Wow

I just realized that I haven't written for so long. I found Young's comment that my blog already has fungus coz I haven't done anything on it for 3 months. She's right. :) I really want to post something but there is so much to talk about - I'll try to maintain it every day... hopefully this works :)

I had a fun week. Last Sunday we sang in church, our Indonesian choir, in front of Bishop Garcia. Got compliments from St. Therese choir. I also met a few nuns from the Missionaries of Charity which was established by the Blessed Teresa of Calcutta in that Mission Sunday celebration, the last in the St. Therese Church 100th Anniversary Celebration, October 2004.

Then I realized that I forgot to do my essay for Tuesday. I was drawn into working on my Statistics homework that I forgot the other closer deadline. I ended up lack of sleep on Tuesday. I also got a stomachache this morning, maybe from the fish that I ate last night... but the Enzymfort medicine was really good. I woke up too early in the morning because my stomach was aching, and did not get better; but then I took the medication and my stomach got well in 10 minutes.

I met my advisor today. Do you know that she is my new advisor? Yes. Judith Wittner is now my advisor, and I am doing my thesis on the Indonesian Catholic Community in Chicago. I felt bad for disturbing her today in her busy schedule, just because I need to submit a travel grant form to the Fulbright before October 29.
I e-mailed Daniel today to let him know that I have a new advisor. I should have told them two weeks ago, but I always forgot!

Today I also got the CITI certification from the Office of Research Services at Loyola. That's quite a relief... I have done the online course a while ago and had been expecting this certificate for 3 weeks.

I also heard from the Deloners mailing list that Delon sang "Can't Smile Without You" yesterday, and he invited a girl from the audience to sing along. I was really reminded of last week's Barry Manilow concert at the Allstate Arena, Rosemont (Oct 21). He also invited a girl to sing that song with him on stage, as he always did everytime he sings that song in his concerts. Barry was amazing. I really like his songs. It's really worth traveling on the train for 2 hours round-trip just to see him! Too bad that time I left one of my camera batteries at home so that I could not take pictures!

Somebody e-mailed to the PWKI (Paguyuban Warga Katolik Indonesia) mailing list criticizing the celebration of Halloween. He claimed that it is not "biblical". I understand if there are people who think that way, but I'm sad if they accuse us as going against the Bible. I think there are certain ways to understand the Bible. One church may be different from another; and we have to respect each other. It's the same case with other religions, in my thoughts; that there may be different religions in the world and we should respect each other; increasing positive discussion atmosphere without the obsession to accuse each other as sinners.

Tomorrow is going to be Thursday. I like Thursdays because that is my last day of work in the week. I have to start reading Gramsci today to catch up with the Modern Theory Class.
